Chapter 08 / Economics & Capacity

Know what growth will ask of your agency.

Another client changes the workload and the numbers. House gives you a place to understand capacity, examine pod contribution profit, and test growth assumptions before making the commitment.

Built for ecommerce email agencies.

Two views. A better-informed decision.

What the team can carry

Capacity measures weekly deliverables and active client responsibilities against set limits. Time off and holidays reduce availability. A person, role, pod, or agency view helps identify where the constraint sits.

What delivery contributes

Pod Economics compares retainers with delivery labor and direct expenses. Contribution profit and margin are what remains before agency overhead. Client mix, allocations, and forecast inputs are assumptions you can examine.

Pod Willow · Monthly economics

The arithmetic, in the open.

Revenue
$40,000Retainers from the clients included in this scenario.
Labor
− $18,000Delivery labor assigned to the pod.
Direct expenses
− $2,000Other delivery costs included in the example.
Contribution
$20,000 · 50% marginRevenue less these delivery costs. Agency overhead still sits outside this figure.

Room is specific.

One role can limit the pod even when another has room. Deliverable effort weights compare work for the same role; the agency can set limits instead of treating everyone as interchangeable.

Behind and Over mean different things. Someone may be behind on their own step while still within their workload limit. Work waiting on the client is different again. Missing limits are shown as missing, not replaced by a guess dressed up as a measurement.

The aim behind capacity planning

End goal: cohesive, coherent, congruent, intelligent, integrated features

A growth plan you can examine.

The Growth Calculator starts from a client goal and deadline and shows the sales pace needed, accounting for churn. Pod forecasts can use sales assumptions and CRM pipeline information to explore what growth could mean.

Use these alongside the team’s current capacity. The delivery Capacity view and Pod Economics’ forecast capacity inputs are not yet one unified model. A forecast is a scenario, not a promise that a person can absorb the work or that the revenue will arrive.

Read the numbers with care

Is contribution profit the agency’s net profit?

No. It is the amount remaining after the delivery labor and direct expenses included in Pod Economics, before agency overhead.

Does an Admin or manager role grant financial access?

No. The workspace owner controls Economics access independently of team roles. View As does not grant that access.

Does Homi automatically turn time saved into more capacity?

No. The automatic loop from job time savings into capacity, economics, hiring, and sales is not available yet.

Economics & Capacity, in the whole House

Choose the growth you can stand behind.

The aim is a decision the team understands: what the opportunity asks of them, what the assumptions are, and why it is worth doing.

Assignments and availability inform Capacity. The sales pipeline and financial assumptions inform forecasts. A person considers them together before saying yes.
